Action Zone Toronto

Zones 28 & 32

From September 17 to 22, the Rotary Action Zone Summit took place in Toronto, bringing together Rotary and Rotaract members from around the world for a series of enriching seminars, conferences, and training sessions. Two of our members, Killian and Mathieu, had the chance to participate. They share their experiences with us!

"It's an event that we won't be forgetting anytime soon!"

In their goal to develop a Rotaract Club in Sherbrooke, the Rotary Club of the city offered them the opportunity to travel to Toronto to attend various training sessions and meet many members from across North America. They were thus able to learn more about the workings of Rotary International and discuss the major issues facing the organization.

Killian,

Founder of the club and member of Rotaract since 2021

Mathieu,

Founder of the club and member of Rotaract since 2023

One of the highlights of this summit was the announcement by Mr. Ahmed Hussen, Canada's Minister of International Development, who confirmed a commitment of $151 million from Canada to fight against polio. This contribution is part of the effort led by Rotary International since 1985 to eradicate this disease.

Throughout the event, members from the North America zone spoke about the challenges and opportunities of Rotary on a global scale. Jennifer Jones, President of Rotary International for 2023-2024, shared her journey and experience within the organization, while Mário César Martins De Camargo, President-elect for 2025-2026, discussed his vision and ambitions for his upcoming term.

The summit was also an opportunity for young leaders and emerging professionals to train and develop their skills. The Future Leaders & Young Professionals training offered our two members a better understanding of Rotaract club management, providing them with concrete tools to strengthen their commitment.

This event was a memorable and enriching experience for all participants. A huge thank you to Chris Etienne, Director of Rotary International 2024-2026, for organizing this summit, as well as to the Rotary Club of Sherbrooke for its valuable support in participating in this meeting.

The Rotary Action Zone Summit has once again demonstrated the impact of collective work and commitment to serving others, paving the way for new initiatives and collaborations around the world.
